Things to do - general

Lanzarote

The strange volcanic soils of Lanzarote welcome you, and the islands tranquillity and silence invite you to disconnect and recharge your energy levels during the long, sunny days.

The unique landscapes form a valuable ecosystem that is recognised internationally. It’s an ideal environment to relax and lose yourself amongst the volcanoes, lava tubes and pristine beaches. Stop and take in in the peace: You’ll feel like you’re visiting another world.

The legacy of César Manrique

Harmony between art and nature
Most of Manrique’s art is in Lanzarote and at the famous Fundación Cesar Manrique gallery. This attracts thousands of visitors every year, drawn to his harmonious vision of Lanzarote and its landscapes. Explore it further at the Jameos del Agua or the Mirador del Rio viewpoint.

Green Caves

A trip inside the Earth
When you walk down into this lava cave, once a shelter from pirate attacks, you enter a volcanic realm where molten magma solidified into twisted shapes. The colours of the magma are still there in the rocks with reds, caused by rusting iron from the fresh lava, alongside ochres and greens caused by light reflecting off the salt that has percolated in from the ocean.

Green Lagoon

A crater by the sea
Formed during the 1730 eruptions this natural amphitheatre by the sea contains an emerald-green lagoon formed by the sunken crater. The colour comes from natural algae living in the warm water and contrasts with the black sand beach. A spectacular view that can’t help but impress you.

La Francesa Beach

The secret islet
La Graciosa is the only inhabited islet in the Chinijo Archipelago just north of Lanzarote. Its one of the few places in Europe with no tarmac and its golden beaches are perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Perfect for disconnecting from modern life and just taking things easy.

The Protected Landscape of La Geria

Protected landscape
The rolling vineyards of the La Geria wine region, with rows of pits and stone walls to shelter the vines, always surprise visitors. This is where many of the islands delicious Designation of Origin wines are made.

Papagayo Beach

A little paradise
In south Lanzarote, and surrounded by a pristine nature reserve, this white sand bay with crystal clear, turquoise waters is the place to jump into the ocean. Calm as a swimming pool and with soft, white sand it’s a tough place to leave. Luckily there’s a rustic beach restaurant right by the beach so you can always put it off for a bit.
